A God in Ruins Leon Uris

A God in Ruins Leon Uris

Overview:

A self-made billionaire, building a super computer from the bowels of his father's junkyard, now is President of the United States and his opponent, the squeaky clean, righteous, Governor of Colorado, who is looking to become the second Irish Catholic President in history. This is obviously fiction, because no businessman would run for President and there is no squeaky clean politician. Outside of this fantasy, Leon Uris's novel, "A God In Ruins" is a fast-paced, action packed, adventure novel. It is simply, enjoyable!

The novel covers the parallels in the two candidates lives. Thornton Tomtree, the President, and Quinn Patrick O'Connell, the Governor of Colorado. The novel spans the decades from World War II, with Quinn's parents to the 2008 presidential election, with the truly surprising ending.

The characterization developed by Uris is fascinating. While the O'Connell family tree is followed from World War II, the move from out east to Colorado, and the political leanings of the family is chronicled, The Tomtree episodes are covered by the move from the junkyard computer to one of the world's richest men. Darnell Jefferson is Tomtree's right hand man and confidant, ultimately, his conscience. This is more true, when Tomtree turns into the "Evil Emperor."

ENJOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
